About Mahendranagar (Bhimdatta)
Mahendranagar is the largest city of Kanchanpur district and one of the main urban centres of Sudurpashchim Province. Long known as Mahendranagar, it was renamed Bhimdatta — you will hear and see both names everywhere.
Sitting on the Mahakali river opposite Banbasa, it is a trading and transit town with a warm Terai climate, rich Tharu culture, and the Shuklaphanta National Park on its doorstep. It is the kind of place travellers pass through quickly on their way somewhere else — and then wish they had stayed longer.
